Dear Joanne,
I'm thinking of changing my hairstyle, but I'm not sure what style to adopt.
Can you give me any suggestions?

When making any change to your image, it is important to take your profession
into account. How do successful colleagues wear their hair? While you don't
want to mimic their style, it will give you some guidance.
In business shorter hair styles are most appropriate.
This is especially true for women, where long hair styles may
undermine their authority and credibility.
Don't be afraid to ask people whose hairstyle you admire, who does their hair.
Use pictures in magazines to get inspiration and use as a template for your
stylist. Ensure that you share the model's facial features or you won't be
happy with the results. This is where the expertise and advice of a good stylist
comes in.
Speaking of stylists...
Women should ask their stylist for a styling lesson after the cut, so that
you can learn how to maintain it properly yourself. If a style requires too
much daily upkeep, give it a pass. Murphy's Law says, the days when you don't
spend the time on it, that's when you are bound to be in the spotlight.
To keep your image on target make sure you get your hair cut regularly. Especially
if it is short, schedule cuts at least every four weeks. For maintenance between
cuts, some stylists will do this at no charge.
Hair colour...
If you want to change your colour, try to stay in
the same colour family as your natural hair colour. This is
important so that your hair colour always harmonizes with your
skin tone.
Keeping your image current, indicates that your thinking
and approach to business is also current.
